Without an account, everything stays in your browser

You can use taketake without signing up. Your projects, the images and videos you add, and your captures are then kept in this browser's own storage (IndexedDB), with a few display preferences such as the theme in local storage. None of it is uploaded. It stays until you delete the project or clear this site's data in your browser. Photos and videos you export are saved wherever your browser puts downloads.

Your account

If you create an account, taketake stores your email address and the sessions that keep you signed in (with the IP address and browser they came from), in a database hosted by Neon. Signing in with Google sends you to Google, which tells us your email address, name and picture. When you sign in with an email code, the code is sent through Resend, which receives your email address for that purpose.

Signing in never uploads anything by itself: your local projects stay on your device until you choose to save one to your account.

Projects and media saved to your account

When you save a project to your account, its document and the images and videos it uses (with the preview files made from them) are stored in Cloudflare R2 and the project database, so you can open them on other devices. If your plan includes the cloud camera roll, your exports are stored there too. Files are private to your account and are only served to you, through links that expire. We don't look at, analyse or share your content.

Payments

Paid plans are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us; we keep your plan, your subscription's status and the customer ID Stripe gives us. We count your captures and recordings each week to apply your plan's allowances.

Fonts

Text scenes load their typefaces from Google Fonts. When a text scene uses a font, your browser requests it from Google, which sees your IP address and browser type like any web request. No project content is sent.

Hosting

Vercel delivers this site and sees ordinary request data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies; the only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.

Your choices

Delete a project from the project menu, or clear this site's data in your browser to remove everything stored locally. Deleting your account (in the menu) deletes your account, your cloud projects, their media and your cloud camera roll, and cancels any subscription; projects on your device stay. Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
